Description
"It all started at age 17 with a blue minivan and unopened university letters. I packed up my dads burb buggy with 2 guitars, a barstool and a tub of t-shirts and CDs and set off for the east coast. I played any and every show that would have me. drove through blizzards and listened to way too much John Mayer and Bright Eyes. I fell in love. I came home and started a band called The Academy Is... I wrote a record about following my dreams and breaking out for good. We did, and I never slowed down. 7 years, 3 albums, over a half a million records sold on top of countless shows played for thousands and thousands of people around the world including a dozen tours in the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, UK, Germany, Belgium, and Chile, my band went as far and as fast as any of us dreamt. We performed on Jimmy Kimmel, Conan OBrien, and Carson Daly. Over time, lives and minds changed, and something was missing. I was in a band veiled in secrecy and politics. I broke it up and started over.
I spent the past year and a half writing constantly, churning out the best work of my career. "These are hit songs. Its your turn. You are a superstar," I was told. Just after the New Year, I was inexplicably let go from the label. I took my all of my songs and my vision and hit the ground running. I surrounded myself with a whole new team. Its time to walk the talk. Its all about good, honest music, and lots of it. Its all about fearlessness and new ideas. Its all about playing shows for the best fans in the world and making new ones. Its all about being true to who I am and what I stand for, especially when I dont seem to "fit in." Im not interested in being anyone other than myself. The next chapter starts this April with my debut solo EP release "Walk the Talk," followed by much more music to come as 2012 unfolds."

Embrace the rich musical heritage of the lands and peoples of the British Isles, including beloved folk songs from Scotland, England, Wales, and Ireland. Whether energized by a sea shanty, moved by songs of melancholy and nostalgia, swept away by songs of true love, or soothed by a lullaby, this will be an eclectic musical journey.
Individual tickets are $22 regular, $18 for seniors (65+), and $10 for students and may be purchased online at www.thetexasvoices.org, at the door, or by calling 214-384-6336.
About The Texas Voices
Founded in December 2002 by Artistic Director Alan Dyer, this 24-voice ensemble celebrates the choral tradition with a rich variety of music, from sacred to secular, classic to contemporary. To date, the chorus has premiered more than 40 original choral works. Artistic Director Alan Dyer has gathered skilled singers from a broad range of backgrounds to create the first professional chamber chorus specifically serving North Dallas and Collin County. Dyer brings to the combination a musical sensitivity that places The Texas Voices among the top echelon of choruses nationwide.
About Alan Dyer, Artistic Director
Alan Dyer is a respected choral director, performer, and educator in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. In addition to directing The Texas Voices, Dyer is the music associate at First Unitarian Church of Dallas and the principal accompanist of the Childrens Chorus of Greater Dallas. Description
Graduating from the fuzzy, fumbling emotional cobwebs and draped ambiance of past records, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming careens past its audience. Brazenly stretching out along the horizon, spilling glittery, golden arms of sound across the landscape, it holds your breath hostage without you even noticing you were missing it. If it seemed that Anthony was basking in the sunshine-drenched days of his youth when he released Saturdays in 2008, then it can be said that in 2011, at the age of 30, he is tempestuously charging towards his future with Hurry Up, We’re Dreamin.

Description
April 20 – May 20, 2012
Copaken Stage
Book and Lyrics by Howard Ashman
Music by Alan Menken
Based on the film by Roger Corman, screenplay by Charles Griffith
Directed by Kyle Hatley
Long before Bill Gates made nerds trendy, there was Seymour Krelborn, a hapless florist searching for love, aided by a bizarre plant with an insatiable appetite for human blood. With Motown-style music and true to its original roots – Roger Corman’s 1960s black comedy film and the subsequent Off-Broadway show – Little Shop of Horrors is a love story about what happens when botany goes horribly wrong. Set in the intimate Copaken Stage in downtown’s P&L District, Little Shop of Horrors promises to become a Kansas City cult favorite.
Appropriate for middle school and up.
